Sunday Afternoon

We took Enoch to Boulevard Park. Here's some of my favorite pictures.

Enoch hasn't gotten a really great view of the ocean for a while. We went down to the boat tie-up area at the Fairhaven (tourist-y south end of Bellingham) side of the boardwalk...and let Enoch feel the movement of the ocean from his stroller.
Then we walked down to the park to play on the grass. There were a lot of people out today. Enoch took advantage to explore with Shaun. (Below is Shaun helping Enoch to get his shoe back on.)
He gave up on dad and took off with only one shoe.

Shaun played the retriever and brought back our little boy.
Ans gave him a free ride on his shoulders! Fantastic!
Enoch gave Shaun's head a hug as a thank you. I really enjoy watching the two of them play and grow together! I love being a mom!

PS Shaun was stopped by two men who complimented him on his shirt and asked where he got it. (Girls--it's a "Green Lantern" comic t-shirt. Google it if you're still confused.) Shaun has many comic shirts--and he is often stopped. I told Shaun he should open a store called "Things you didn't know you wanted until you saw it" or "Things you can buy now that you've found that special someone--who will love you anyway--store." He can sell all the shirts that he has to go on the Internet to find to his following of comic loving men. I'm not sure what else he can sell--any ideas?

Lynden Fair

We walked in the gates of the fair in Lynden and the first thing we saw was a booth for PRAISE 106.5 FM-- radio station. Aaahhh, Lynden! (For those of you who don't know--the movie Footloose's conservative town is Lynden's thing. You have to drive through a cemetery to get here....and if you don't mow your lawn--and it gets to high, you get a ticket, and there's a lot of Dutch food.)

After we took a right, we headed straight for the animals before Enoch got to tired. (We went last Thursday night after work.) We wandered into the milk cow barn and were quickly met by a friendly farmer who asked us if we wanted to pet a cow. Sure thing! I was so thrilled for Enoch to get the opportunity at such a young age--but he was more interested in the hay. He touched the cow....but really liked putting hay on the cow. Her name was chocolate....I suppose because her owners have a sense of humor. :) Love it!Enoch is below my head on the right...his hand is the one holding straw.

Then we wandered over to the reptile tent and some friends spotted us....almost every Holman in the county! It was awesome...and I was pleased to know most of them thanks to college---and spying on blogs. Enoch was able to see snakes and a parrot...(I don't know why it was there)...and spiders. He started to get anxious as to why we weren't letting him run around...so, we got out of there before he got to jealous of the other kids.We saw some other animals--like lambs, llamas, pigs, boy cows --aka meat cows, and then saw some empty cat cages. (Lamest part---but I guess they were out getting judged or something.) We looked at the booths with urgency--scoped out the food situation and decided on Fish and chips---and a burger. Shaun waited in line while Enoch ate his healthy food from home. See how happy he is with his banana and cheese?
If you look closely, you can see Shaun to the left of the Pepsi-branded garbage can. (Sidenote: Why garbage cans Pepsi? Its like a giant sticky soda can. Or maybe this is just me....after all, I don't even drink soda.) All in all, it was more fun because we saw people we knew...and the nice farmer who let us pet a cow! Next month we're going to the Puallup Fair. This was all in training us for the BIG one with Enoch.

Hot Weekend Activities

Despite the heat, we went to Cornwall Park to give Enoch some practice walking on uneven terrain. He did fantastic. He found a new task he enjoys doing, pushing the stroller! Isn't this classic kid stuff?

Sunday, we went to church, and after his nap...we took Enoch outside to play in the shade with a bowl of water. We all got wet, especially him. This was also a first. We were attempting to give him mentally stimulating and development opportunities.

Shaun and I also made grilled pizza for the first time--and had a great time! Anybody have any favorite pizza dough recipes?

If you've had a birthday, shout "Hooray!"

July 20th, I turned 27. Shaun made it a very special day...including flowers delivered to me at work, dinner at Nimbus, Emily Pool--the official date-night babysitter, and cake. At the end of the day, I realized I hadn't gotten many pictures of myself--and took one more while I lay in bed before I turned off the light. It's my morbid --death face. I thought, maybe this will help people to remember what I looked like with my eyes closed. Enough. Done. No more death...I am 27 and I don't have to round up or down...I'll just be 27. Thank goodness Shaun is older than me! No old jokes...for me. (Even though I sometimes jest with him about his charming age.--Love you babe!)
I have been told that I am a difficult person to shop for. I guess I strike fear into others to some degree. I realize I don't have any REAL hobbies that require PROPS--so, its not a natural decision to get me a new canoe or scrapbook paper--etc... but, thank you family for the many gift cards and cash. I enjoy shopping with the freeing idea--"If I don't use this gift card, it's going to be a waste of money."

Thanks friends!

Fan of Peppy Music

Enoch loves a good beat. His favorite is the theme song for the office. If he's cranky or focused on doing things I'd rather he stop--we only need turn on The Office theme song--and we've got a bouncing baby boy in our living room! Adorable.

The Next Steps...walking!

Enoch is 13 months old---and he's walking now! He started by taking a few steps every now and then... until it was his preferred mode of transportation. He gets shaky when he's laughing...and falls a lot, but he's getting better everyday! It's amazing how much he's changed in a year.

It reminds me of the potential I have to change, grow, and progress in a year if I really want to.
