FINALLY IT HAPPENED! A JOB!!
Here's the story...in case you're interested:
Sunday, June 3, 2012Discouraged at having no luck looking for a job since he graduated college, Shaun asked for a special prayer/blessing from church leaders regarding his job search. He got one.
Monday, June 4, 2012
I pointed out a job lead on Facebook from a friend, Rhea Booth, for an internal job announcement at Decagon Devices-- that hadn't been posted on their website. Shaun sent her a Facebook message and she sent him the official job posting.

Shaun sent a resume and cover letter to Decagon Devices.

Tom Mumford found out from me that Shaun had applied to Decagon and he quickly got on the phone to call and express his support of Shaun's submission. (Decagon is his wife's family business--started in 1983--the year I was born. He called his brother in law, Collin, and said he couldn't believe Shaun submitted a resume without talking to him...but that he was a great person and would be an asset to Decagon. Very kind!)

Shaun got an e-mail from Decagon asking him if he could do a phone interview that week on Friday. Why yes....
Friday, June 15, 2012
Shaun had the phone interview at 9:15 am which lasted about 25 minutes. It seemed to go well. They said they'd get back to him in 2 weeks. That afternoon, Decagon called Shaun around 4 pm and said they liked how the phone interview went and wanted to know if he could come to Pullman on Monday for an in person interview. They said he could bring his family (us) and offered to pay for gas and a hotel. Of course! We called Tom and Julia Mumford to let them know the exciting progress.

We left around 10 am and traveled to Pullman, WA! We got to the hotel around 6 pm. Enoch liked the room and called it his "little house." It was his first time sleeping in a big queen bed all by himself. We got to sleep by 10 pm. Great bed...slept well.

Shaun left us to attend his interview at 9 am--at Decagon. He was gone a looooong time. Around 11 am, I started to get worried I would be checking out of the hotel at 12 pm on my own. Shortly after, Shaun called and said that he would be done in another 20 minutes, but that Decagon wanted to take all of us out to lunch! At 11:30 am, Shaun got back to the hotel. We met in the elevator on the main floor as I was just about to push the luggage cart into the lobby. Perfect timing!
So, we checked out, loaded the car, and Enoch and I met Collin, Doug, Jolene, Kelsey, and Brody at the Old European Deli (or Cafe). We had great food and Shaun got to talk about fishing with Doug and Collin. We then took off and left town after lunch. About an hour later, we got an e-mail on Shaun's smartphone from Decagon stating that they enjoyed meeting us and that we'd get a decision from them by late that week or early the following week---as they were hosting a convention that week in town and we're really busy.
We got back to Bellingham at 9 am Monday night...hopeful of good things.

We were thrilled when Shaun got an e-mail extending him a job offer at Decagon Devices in Pullman, WA--as a Soil Lab Technician!! Hooray! They wanted to have him start as soon as possible since the person he was replacing had gotten a new job in Olympia and was starting on July 16th. Shaun wrote an e-mail back stating that he was very excited and would talk to me that night to go over the logistics of how to make all that possible.
After talking that night, we decided that Shaun needed to get over there the next week...and that Enoch and I would stay in Bellingham to pack and prepare for the move.

Shaun wrote Decagon back and let them know our plans.
Friday, June 29, 2012
Shaun got our '93 Jeep Wrangler's water pump replaced by our mechanic.
Wednesday, July 4, 2012
Shaun drove the Jeep to Moscow, ID-- to stay with some old friends (the Halls) while he worked at Decagon.
Thursday, July 5, 2012
Shaun started his new job at Decagon Devices! (And---the Jeep's clutch stopped working...but then after bleeding the line, found out all was well..and no repairs needed. Just maybe a tighter cap.)
So, NOW....here we are on Friday, July 6th.... Lindsay and son in Bellingham....& Shaun in Pullman. We have some great supporters and fans helping us to make this possible. Thanks babysitters, thanks Hall family, thanks Mumfords, and most of all thank you Heavenly Father! We are so humbled and amazed at the journey we've taken to get to this point. We're sad to leave our family and friends on the west-side of WA...but are excited for an adventure!! Now we're figuring out where to move...but this is a problem I enjoy more than finding a job and living in limbo as a pregnant working mom...wondering when I'll be able to slow down for a second before giving birth again. Anyway, we're really happy!
